This week, the Salmon Arm Jazz Club is pleased to present a second appearance by the Jordan Dick Electric Jazz Trio. The trio features Jordan Dick on electric guitar, Gareth Says on drums, and Dan Smith on electric bass.
“Expect the familiar in unfamiliar ways, and the unfamiliar in familiar ways,” smiles the unassuming and immensely talented Jordan Dick. Performing unique arrangements of jazz standards and contemporary classics, this trio draws on a diverse selection of music ranging from Neil Young to Bill Evans, from Pat Metheny to Patsy Cline, and from Bill Frisell to Led Zeppelin.
Since moving to the Shuswap in 2009, Jordan has led many bands and shared the stage with many of the country's finest musicians including Phil Dwyer, Richard Underhill, Bill Coon and Donny Clark. His style draws on influences from composer/guitarist Bill Frisell and modern jazz guitarists like Gilad Hekselman without excluding his love for psychedelic and prog rock groups like Yes and Pink Floyd.
Jordan is also the current artistic director for the Salmon Arm Jazz Club acting as something between a lightning rod and Velcro for the vibrant improvisational jazz scene in the Shuswap. Please join us to celebrate another evening of great jazz featuring some of our finest local artists.
